Leiden

Leiden is a historical Dutch City located 10 km North East of The Flying Pig Beach Hostel in Noordwijk.  Leiden has a population of around 120,000 people, and sits somewhat inland on the west coast of the Netherlands.  Leiden has plenty of museums, gardens, windmills, historical sites, bars, pubs, nightclubs and coffeeshops to keep visitors busy for at least a fortnight, and of course, Leiden is the birthplace of the famous artist Rembrant! 
The easiest and cheapest way to get to Leiden from the Beach Hostel is by bus - numbers 40 and 42 depart from the centre of Noordwijk every half an hour, and a return ticket costs only €2.20!  The journey takes about 30 minutes, and cuts across glorious Dutch countryside, which makes the bus ride an enjoyable experience in itself.  So, buy the ticket, take the ride!

Unfortunatily Leiden has no cheap hostels or other accommodation

The Beach Hostel Noordwijk fills the gap, this popular hostel is wellknown amongst the backpackers and is definitaly a place to go. It is only 10 km from Leiden and the busses run frequently.
