The Noordwijkse Golf Club is home to one of the most renowned golf courses in the Netherlands, and even Europe. In the past the club has played host to the Heineken Open, and is the chosen course for the Dutch open. The current 18-hole course was constructed in 1969, and lies amongst the Noordwijk sand dunes, parallel to the shoreline. And it is this beautifully natural location that just oozes links character. The players at the Noordwijkse Golf Club really are treated to wild views over the North Sea, just another factor which helps make the Noordwijkse Golf Club one of the most prestigious courses in the world, and sees it ranked as the eighth best course in Continental Europe. Guests are welcome at the Noordwijkse Golf Club, but call ahead to check if there are any events which may prohibit your chances of getting out onto the course on the day you want to. If you are not a member of the club then expect to pay a high ‘one –off’ entrance fee, but no more than the going rate for a professional links course. However, if you don’t feel ready to mix it with the top professionals at the Noordwijkse Club then there is a cheaper alternative. Mini golf! The mini golf course is a ten minute walk inland from the Flying Pig Beach Hostel in Noordwijk. The mini golf course is actually part of an Adventure Park designed primarily for children. To give it its full name, The Adventure Park De Rollygolf has row after row of trampolines, mini cars, and also holds childrens parties. But this are strictly for children. Nevertheless, the mini golf can be played by all ages, young and old, and is tremendous fun. |
